Developing Leadership Skills in One-on-One Relationships

The Executive Development program pairs executive leaders and Associates in structured, collaborative, one-on-one relationships that focus on developing leadership skills and preparing the Associates to assume C-level positions.

With executive leaders as trusted advisors and counselors, Associates more quickly gain the strategic perspective, organizational savvy and set of leadership behaviors expected by HCA. Through exposure to and interaction with high-level HCA executives, Associates are challenged as individuals to fulfill their professional and personal potential and have a greater organizational impact.

Specific objectives of the Executive Mentorship include

  • Transfer hospital operations, healthcare industry, business and financial acumen, and leadership knowledge from the mentor to the Associate
  • Drive organizational learning from the highest level of leadership, solidifying an organizational culture of ongoing development and continuous improvement
  • Broaden organizational insight and thus personal effectiveness
  • Address personal development gaps with objective feedback and coaching
  • Support innovation and risk taking by providing a safe environment for exploration, discussion, and feedback
  • Embed a two-way learning and networking mechanism that links the pipeline of current and future leaders
