The Experience

On-the-Job Development and Executive Mentorships

No less than 75 percent of each associate’s learning and development happens at the associate’s assigned facility. This unique, immersive experience prepares associates for their future C-level roles in ways that a structured curriculum alone cannot match.

In addition to this experiential learning component of the HCA Executive Development program, each associate is paired with a respective CEO/COO or CNO mentor at the associate’s assigned facility. Each mentor monitors the associate’s on-the-job experience for the duration of the program.

According to facility needs and the associate’s experience, mentors also delegate responsibilities to the associate that may include managing clinical and non-clinical departments, managing and/or collaborating with key staff, and participating in business strategies and initiatives.
