The program goals are in alignment with the Corporate strategy and the HR mission. The mission is to create a high performance, high commitment work environment that values employees, builds relationships, promotes understanding of expectations and recognizes the individual contribution in the delivery of high quality, compassionate, and cost effective healthcare.

| Do I need a Masters degree to enter the development program? |
All applicants should hold a Masters in a related field. |
| What is the application process? |

- After applying, you will receive an email stating receipt of your resume and online application.
- Applications are prescreened and are moved through the written document phase and then the telephone interview
- Candidates are scheduled for a corporate interview either in the spring or fall
- Site interviews are scheduled at the facilities for Executive interviews
- Recruitment staff initiates final job offers

Do I need to relocate to enter the program? |
Geographic flexibility is a requirement upon entering the program and to fulfill commitment of a COO role

HCA is competitive in the healthcare industry and provides several packages tailored to your specific needs. |
| How long is the program? |
The COO Development program is targeted for 2-4 years (depending on previous work experience). Many Associates complete nearer to the 3-year timeframe. |
| What will I do while in the program? |
An Associates development in the program is based on the 80-10-10 model. 80% of an Associates development is based on targeted work assignment at the facility. 10% of an Associates development is based on the mentoring experience with the CEO. The final 10% is based on participation in formal learning seminars. The Associates will assume line management roles with hands on application to include operations, quality, staffing, budgeting, capital management, and developing leadership and management skills. |
| How many are enrolled in the program at any one time? |
There are up to 45 Associate Administrators in the program at one time. |
| What are the job opportunities after completion of the program? |
After completion of the program, Associates will interview with Executive Recruitment and an HCA facility to be promoted to the position of COO. |

| Will the Associate CNO have to relocate to be in the CNO-DP? |
There will be opportunities for some candidates to stay at their home facility site for mentoring or they will be relocated to another facility for mentoring. Each associate MUST be geographically flexible to accommodate CNO opportunities across HCA facilities. |
| What is the salary of an Associate CNO while in the program? |
The salary of the Associate CNO is based on experience, along with other variables and is individually discussed with each accepted applicant to the program. |
| If an RN who is currently in a Director role at a facility joins the program, can they remain in their director role and be based at their own facility? |
All candidates chosen for the program are titled ACNO and should transition out of their existing role into the Associate CNO role. This will provide them the opportunity to enhance and diversify their development of leadership, operational and financial skills. The program director will work with the mentor during the program on an operational and executive development plan. |
| Is the training held in one location or in various locations? What is the length of each training session (or is it on going)? |
Development Seminars are live and via Webinar ranging from 2 to 5 days. The program is designed for a 12 to 18 month development period. |
| How is relocation handled? |
Relocation is based on the corporate relocation policy and will be reviewed with all accepted applicants prior to entering the program. |
| When will the CNO-Development Program begin? |
Dates for transitioning into CNO-DP will be determined annually but usually occurs in the first/second quarter of each year. |
| Once the 12-18 months are completed, what is the projected time frame for transitioning into a CNO position? |
Placement into a CNO position will be based on individual development along with mentor and program director leadership skills assessments and the availability of CNO openings at the time of readiness. ACNOs will not be automatically released from the program based solely on a time of 12-18 months. |
| Does the applicant have to be an HCA employee to be in the program? |
YES, you must be an HCA employee to participate in the program as this program is designed to support HCA clinical leadership development within the organization. |
| What are the basic program requirements? |
- Currently hold an active, unrestricted RN license in the United States or Territories
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing or higher
- Minimum of 5 years leadership and management experience
- Geographic Flexibility-must be willing to relocate to fulfill commitment of a CNO role
