Requirements for HCA’s Executive Development Program

The admissions process for the CNO and COO tracks of HCA’s Executive Development program is highly selective. Ideal candidates will be able to answer ‘Yes’ to all of the questions below pertaining to their desired track.

Which track are you interested in applying for?

Chief Nursing OfficerChief Operating Officer

CNO Development Program

  • Are you currently employed as a registered nurse at an HCA-affiliate facility?
  • Do you have an active, unrestricted license as a registered nurse in the United States or its territories?
  • Do you have a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing or higher degree and a willingness to enroll in a Master’s of Health Science or Business program before completing the CNO Development Program?
  • Do you have a minimum of five years of leadership and management experience with the last three of those years in a direct leadership role in a hospital or direct patient care environment?
  • Do you have potential for superior leadership, exceptional business management and communication skills, and a willingness to work long hours and weekends?
  • Do you have a willingness to relocate upon entering the program and to assume the responsibilities of being a CNO?

COO Development Program

  • Do you have an MBA, MHA or related degree from an accredited college or university program?
  • Do you have at least two years of leadership and management experience, preferably in the healthcare industry?
  • Do you have potential for superior leadership, exceptional business management and communication skills, and a willingness to work long hours and weekends?
  • Do you have a willingness to relocate upon entering the program and to assume the responsibilities of being a COO?
